It is good to have computer skills whether you use them for yourself, to assist others such as your children or to increase productivity at your place of work. Having a qualification in IT formally demonstrates your level of competence with the use of computers.
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is a qualification standard recognised across Europe and now by many other countries. It indicates your competency level when using the main 7 skills that are desirable to many people in everyday computer use. Many employers ask for their employees to have ECDL and some insist on it.
